Lynnwood Kiwanis Provides Pancake Breakfast to American Cancer Society Relay for Life Participants - 06/08/2017

Very early Sunday morning June 4 eleven members of Lynnwood Kiwanis set up at McCollum Park in Everett and provided pancakes and sausage breakfast to those who were participating in the Relay for Life event for American Cancer Society. Lynnwood  Kiwanis has provided a breakfast for the past several years and the folks who had been walking laps as part of fund raising teams since noon on Saturday were indeed ready for a warm breakfast.


Lynnwood Kiwanis Holds Second Annual Spring Flea Market - 05/20/2017

On a beautiful Saturday morning, May 20 the Lynnwood Kiwanis held their Second Annual Spring Flea Market in the parking lot at Maplewood Presbyterian Church in Edmonds.  Vendors set up tables and displayed the treasures for sale while Kiwanis members helped them get set and served doughnuts and coffee and began cooking hotdogs for lunch.  The event was a success and we can look forward to Spring Flea Market number three in May pf 2018.


Lynnwood Kiwanis Continues to Grow - 05/16/2017

Lynnwood Kiwanis has had four members join us in recent weeks.  We are proud to welcome Mike Moylan,  Robin Olsen-Scribner, Jim Scribner and Sharon Eddy to our club. 65 Year Kiwanis Member Dr. Jay B. Rust Passes - 04/13/2017

Lynnwood Kiwanis has lost a great friend and great Kiwanian with the passing of Dr. Jay B. Rust on March 31 at the age of 94.  Jay was a 65 year member of Kiwanis and a member of Lynnwood Kiwanis for over 50 years.  He served as our club president, lieutenant governor, many years as club secretary and always on hand at club projects.  While attending Washington State University he was part of the initial organization that became the first Circle K.  Jay was the recipient of the prestigious Mel Dennis Award presented by the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis to the Outstanding Club Secretary. Lynnwood Kiwanis Save Old Spectacles Project A BIG Success - 02/28/2017

On February 27 several members of Lynnwood Kiwanis and some members of Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace High School Key Clubs met at College Place Optical Shop (owned by Lynnwood Kiwanis members Ron and Billie Swengel) to repair and clean and count and pack up for shipping, 815 pairs of glasses.  The glasses will now go to Mercy Ships where people in third world countries will be fitted with glasses that may well be helping them see clearly for the first time.  This is a Kiwanis project done by clubs all over the world and Lynnwood has been participating for years.

Lynnwood Kiwanis continues it's pattern of membership growth for 2017 as the Board of Directors approved new member, Jean Kellogg and new, transfer member, Kathleen Moylan on February 8.  Pictured here is President Ron Swengel officially installing Kathleen at our February 9 meeting.  Kathleen is a long time Kiwanis member and very involved at District and International level as she works in the area of club building and the Kiwanis Formula.  She has moved here recently from Ohio where she retains her membership in the Mason Kiwanis Club.  Jean Kellogg is known to many of us as she is a teacher at Lynnwood High School and serves as the Faculty Adivisor to Lynnwood High...


Lynnwood Kiwanis Member Robert "Bob" Olsen Passes - 01/24/2017

Long time member of Lynnwood Kiwanis, Robert Olsen passed away on January 5 at the age of 94.  Bob was a Life Member and a very active member over the years. He earned Kiwanian of the Year honors in 1989 and received the Hixson Foundation Medal from Kiwanis International Foundation.  His memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 1 pm at Maplewood Presbyterian Church where he was a charter member.
